I was born in Hall in Tirol, Austria. There I completed tertiary education at Fachschule fuer Holzwirtschaft und Saegetechnik (the College of Woodworking and Sawmilling). Training included joinery, timber merchandising, saw milling, technical drawing and business papers. After graduation I worked as a timber merchant and a cabinet maker for four years before travelling to the United States.
When I returned to Tirol I took up a position in living room design and sales and gained further experience in cabinet making.
In 1995 I moved to New Zealand and worked at the Christchurch Casino. During my seven years there I also made furniture on a casual basis, becoming familiar with New Zealand native timbers.
M O Design was created in 2003 to cater to those who wanted quality custom made pieces. My creativity and passion come through in the design and finish of my furniture. The most rewarding part for me is taking the whole process from vision to the finished product.
